THE OBJECTIVE

The objective of ART - POLI is for participants to experience Italy, and its art on their own terms exploring techniques of painting and drawing on location, with an added foundation in the fundamentals of Italian art history. Courses in Photography, Sculpture, Glass Blowing, Creative Writing, Literature, Language, Fashion, Film, Culinary, and Oenology Studies will also be offered. 

 

THE RESIDENCY LEARNING OBJECTIVES FOR ART-POLI-Italy

 

Learning the tools and techniques necessary to develop a work of

art.

Learning to draw on location.

Using observation, linear perspective to explore composition, form, color, space, light, shadow, and texture in painting, drawing, and photography.

Use of painting, drawing and photography for creative expression and travel diaries.

International understanding of Italian art through travel, experience, and art history lectures.

Expressing different ways to document art by developing an art vocabulary.

Learning different ways to see art by viewing works in museums, galleries, and or piazzas.

Understanding art as a form of personal expression.

 

THE PROCESS

Using various outdoor locations as a classroom artists will sharpen their

artistic vision and perception.

They will observe, study, paint, draw, and photograph Florentine landscapes, sculptures, and classical paintings in and outside museums.

 

Sessions will be augmented with classical traditions as well as the creative process.

 

Artists will work in pencil, charcoal, acrylics, or watercolor. Photography will also be incorporated into the residency.

 

THE OUTCOME

Participants will be responsible for creating a portfolio of combined images of drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography, or a journal that represents Florentine art and culture.

 

They will also be responsible for creating a theme in photographs that represent the city. Sessions will end with an informal critique.

FEES

Participants must have airline and housing paid in full, 

2 months before travel. Late payments will be charged an extra $350. ART - POLI will give you options for discounted airline and housing. ALL fees are paid directly to airline and housing, not Art - POLI.

ART - POLI offers all organizational services, classes and tours for no cost.
