TECHNIQUE


Artists are exposed to a variety of exercises from simple to complex. Each assignment guides and fosters the necessary developmental process in painting.

Assignments include, learning the tools and techniques necessary to develop a finished painting, by learning color theory, the color wheel, color mixing, blending, proportion, contour, volume, depth, and texture.


Advanced techniques include advanced oil and acrylic mediums, techniques of color theory, palette knife painting, scumbling, glazing, varnishing and washes.


PROCESS


Participants have assignments that promote the process in painting. Documentation of growth and change will cited be in their journals.


CREATIVITY


Understanding art as a form of personal expression and creativity.


Learning new ways to explore and express your individuality or painterly

voice.


Discovering imagination as a source of expression.


ART-POLI participants will learn through exploration of the creative self. Painting sessions will encourage techniques that stimulate creativity. These include keeping a personal pictorial journal (in words and images). Sessions will include emerging in other forms of self expression, including music, reading, writing and yoga. Famous artists and art history will be introduced by museum and art tours.

EXPLORATION AND HISTORY 
Developing art appreciation. 


Understanding painting by studying art techniques and styles, through art history and museum field trips.

 
Learning different ways to see and  document art by developing an art  vocabulary, from viewing works in museums, galleries, temples, and  food markets.


Painting is a process of change and growth. Exploration is important in order to facilitate this process. Participants will have field trips to understand and see this process in action. By studying, various periods in history, participants will have exposure to how art has changed, is changing and will change. This exploration gives artists a voice in their own work of where they are, where they want to go, and how to achieve it. Field trips will not only give artists exposure to different forms of painting but an enhanced vocabulary of the materials, styles and methods used.

 

CRITICAL ANALYSIS / EVALUATION

Developing enhanced visual communication through art conversation and critiques.

Enhancing critical thinking skills.


Learning new ways to explore and express your individuality or painterly voice.

Through groups and individual critiques, artists will learn how to evaluate, plan and create their next process.

 

Evaluation is important in order to create goals and progress to the next level.

and maturity, skills all necessary for professional advancement. It also helps develop an enhanced art vocabulary and critical processing skills.

 

MARKETING ART

Learning resources for marketing, documenting and selling ones art.


Professional portfolio presentation.


Develop a finished body of work for sale in a gallery.
 

As an artist, promoting your artwork is essential. Knowledge in marketing your artwork is necessary for success and advancement.

ART - POLI INDIA AND EGYPT

REQUIREMENTS
Have all necessary art materials for class. Attendance and on time for sessions including field trip, critiques and final presentation. Participation for group discussions.Completion of paintings and final portfolio.

 

EMERGING ARTIST

Learning advance techniques in your medium.

Using observation, linear perspective to explore composition and form.


Improving the essential and fundamentals of paintings, usin color theory, color mixing, blending, proportion, contour, volume, depth, washes, grisaille, underpainting, glazes, transparencies and texture.

Developing a since of art appreciation.


Learning different ways to see art by viewing works in museums and galleries.


Expressing different ways to document art by developing an art vocabulary.
