THE OBJECTIVE

The objective of ART-POLI London is for participants to experience London, England and its art on their own terms, exploring techniques of painting, drawing, photography, creative writing and literature on location, with an added foundation in the fundamentals of British art history.

THE PROCESS

Using various outdoor locations as a classroom artists will sharpen theirartistic vision and perception. They will observe, study, paint, draw and photograph English landscapes, sculptures and classical paintings in and outside museums. Sessions will be augmented with classical traditions as well as the creative process. Artists will work in pencil, charcoal, acrylics or watercolor. Photography will also be incorporated into the residency.

THE OUTCOME

Participants will be responsible for creating a portfolio of combined images of drawings, paintings or a journal that represents British art and culture. They will also be responsible for creating a theme in photographs that represent the city. Sessions will end with an informal critique.
